The mission of NAMI Pensacola is to provide support to the loved ones of the chronically mentally ill and to promote education about mental illnesses, both to our members and to the community as a whole. Our mission extends to those who suffer from mental illness, both through advocacy for improved services and treatment, and through providing a support group.

2017 Walk for Mental Illness Awareness

Help us raise awareness and improve services for our fellow citizens with Brain Disorders
NAMI Pensacola provides support and education for the family and friends of the mentally ill, giving a voice to those who seek a path to enhanced services. We also offer support and advocacy for those in our community who suffer. Currently one in four Americans is impacted by mental illness, and one in twenty by severe mental illness. Many do not seek treatment because of the stigma attached to this devastating disease and many do not know where to turn.
A grass-roots not-for-profit corporation, NAMI Pensacola is staffed entirely by volunteers, and all donations are tax deductible. Our programs are free to the public. We offer four meetings per month, a Family Support Meeting and an Educational Meeting for the family and friends of the mentally ill, and two meetings of the Connection Recovery Support Group for those who are combating mental illness. We also offer the 12week Family to Family course twice a year.
Funds raised by the NAMI Walk in 2016 enabled us to send two members to Connection training and three members to Family to Family training. This year, we hope to add training for the Peer to Peer course and to fund medication assistance and transportation to medical appointments for those who cannot afford it.
But more importantly, we seek to raise awareness of the plight of the mentally ill. Underserved, misunderstood and at the bottom of the totem pole in terms of public dollars allocated for research and cutting-edge treatment, the mentally ill deserve better. The state of Florida is 50th in the nation in terms of mental health funding. This is your opportunity to add your voice to those calling for change.
Join us in Ending the Silence by supporting the 2017 NAMI Pensacola Walk, as a sponsor, by forming a team, or individually.
